Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2026

From 18 to 25 January, churches around the world will be praying for Christian unity.

Globally, the theme is “There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling”; in the UK, CTBI has prepared materials on the theme ‘One Body, One Spirit, One Hope’. There are short reflections and prayers for each day. Could you use them as part of your daily prayers this week?

For additional prayer:

At CCOW, we see how churches working together in practical ways can show Christ’s love clearly to their surrounding communities and beyond. We rejoice to see programmes like Churches Together in Banbury Care for Refugees or the Didcot International Cafe, Reading Green Christians or the Mustard Seed Fair Trade shop in Faringdon. Praise God for people coming together in Christ’s name to share Christ’s love. Pray that more and more churches will unite in this way.

If your local churches are seeking to discern how you might work together, we’d love to support you. Get in touch: we can facilitate times of prayer and discussion and/or offer case studies and contacts of people involved in local programmes.

The materials for this year were part together by the Armenian Church. The CTBI materials remind us that Armenians have suffered greatly from violence, displacement and persecution. The Armenian diaspora is found in many places that are currently suffering as part of very visible conflicts. Armenians also bear in their hearts “the pain of the comparative neglect of the situation of the Armenian people attacked and displaced by Azerbaijan. The ethnic cleansing and associated human rights abuses perpetrated against the Armenian people, especially in the ancient Armenian homeland of Artsakh, have been well documented by international human rights observers, yet the international community fails to act as lives are lost, families are displaced, people are unjustly imprisoned and cultural heritage is destroyed.”  Please pray today for peace with justice for Armenia and Armenians.
