IMIX invites you to a panel discussion on what potential processes could help to resolve the situation for prospective asylum seekers on the UK’s doorstep.
In light of a potential, new bilateral agreement between the UK and France on channel crossings, border security and returns, we are faced with a critical risk that individuals’ access to the UK asylum system will be further hampered through new arrangements which could allow for interceptions and / or swift returns to France.
The prospects for the individuals trapped in northern France are bleak and we believe that there is a need for a strong and concerted civil society voice advocating for alternative solutions to the situation at the UK-France border. We hope you will join this online panel and share your thoughts.
Our expert speakers include:
Marta Welander, Executive Director, Refugee Rights Europe
Claude Moraes former MEP, former Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs
Zoe Gardner, Policy Advisor, JCWI
A young leader from the Hummingbird Project
With expert input from partner organisations in France.
