Please note the new venue of this event: St. Andrew’s Church, north Oxford
Sanctuary Hosting is an award-winning local charity which helps people host a homeless asylum seeker, refugee or vulnerable migrant rent-free in their spare room for an agreed period of time. Hosts can share not only their home but also social and cultural experiences and are supported throughout by a volunteer support worker.
“On Saturday 9th February you are invited to a morning’s training at St. Andrew’s Church, Oxford, run by Hope At Home, who have a national hosting scheme specifically for survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking. The session will cover a general overview of modern slavery in the UK, hosting a survivor, secondary trauma and self-care for hosts, and setting boundaries. There’ll be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion, and we hope many of our hosts and volunteers will attend. Increasingly, Sanctuary Hosting gets referrals where there is a background in modern slavery or trafficking, and we believe many of the issues discussed are also relevant to hosting in general. Please do come if you can.
If you would like to attend, please email: elaine.savage@sanctuaryhosting.org and we will send you more details.”
