“Everyone in our society should have a safe and secure home. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many refugees and asylum seekers. “When receiving Leave to Remain status, refugees commonly become homeless. With demand for housing high, it can be difficult to prove that individuals have a priority need for accommodation. Yet many single refugees suffer from mental and physical health conditions that make them more vulnerable.” – Refugee Council
The 10th October is World Homelessness Day. The purpose of this day is to draw attention to people who experience homelessness needs locally and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness, while taking advantage of the stage an ‘international day’ provides.
We are calling the UK Church to gather together to pray for accommodation for all refugees and asylum seekers who are left destitute.
Join with Christians from across the UK on Sunday 10th October from 8-9PM on Zoom to pray with and for refugees and asylum seekers. We are looking forward to praying with you!
Sign up here to receive the Zoom details beforehand.”
