Making it Work – helping Ukrainians to find jobs in the UK

July 18 @ 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm

“Practical help and inspiration for hosts and guests

Together we have welcomed 90 000 Ukrainians to the UK in the last four months. Many are highly skilled and would like to work in their fields of expertise. However, they face many obstacles including language proficiency, child care needs, unrecognised qualifications and lack of networks. Hosts, guests, volunteers and support hubs need to work together to secure meaningful employment for new arrivals.

– How can we begin to tackle the practical challenges facing job seekers?

– What are some of the cross-cultural differences in the application and interview processes?

– What are the pros and cons of applying for entry-level jobs?

– How does working impact access to benefits?

– What about opportunities in the voluntary sector?

Speakers: Dr Krish Kandiah (Host), Tania Orlova, Matthew Powell, Clare Carpenter, Lord Richard Harrington, Yegor Lanovenko”
