“With the ever growing needs of refugees both locally and abroad (and the present reduction of Covid restrictions), BSR are stepping up our activity with regular Friday night events at the village hall in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell.
Next, on 26 November, a fabulous opportunity to see the moving and award-winning documentary ’For Sama’ on the village hall big screen, followed by a Q&A session with Afraa, one of the key characters in the film. It’s the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo in Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while conflict rises around her. She and her husband, a doctor at one of the few remaining hospitals in the city, face an agonising decision to flee to safety or stay behind to help the innocent victims of war.
Tickets are £10, (£5 for under 18s) , available at our village shop. Or if you would like us to reserve tickets for you, please make payment to our Brightwell Supporting Refugees Lloyds account 30-99-03 26236060 with your name as reference and email firstname.lastname@example.org with your requirements and we will keep them at the door. “
