“Our AGM of Members conducts the formal business of the charity, electing trustees and receiving the accounts, but it has also become a celebration of our work together. The meeting brings together members, volunteers, staff and trustees to review and celebrate what we have achieved over the year in services to asylum-seekers and detainees. Non-members are also welcome. The Annual Review, and the detailed Annual Report and Accounts will be available at the meeting.
This has been another busy year, with the on-going arrival of refugee families on Oxford City Council’s Resettlement Programme, and others arriving on their own initiative. We will hear more from the Director, Kate Smart how the whole Asylum Welcome community has responded to the emerging challenges. We will particularly focus this year on detention issues, and our Detainee Support Service, with a Round-table of experienced people, chaired by Dr Melanie Griffiths.
Please join us for an evening reflecting on the achievements of the year past, and on future directions of our work. I look forward to seeing you at the AGM.
